CIRCA Catalyst Working Group Grants

Deadlines: November 1, 2020 & April 1, 2021

The Center for Innovation, Research, and Creativity in the Arts (CIRCA) invites proposals for CIRCA Catalyst Working Group Grants, to support the incubation of interdisciplinary collaborations within and outside of the Arts at UMBC. CIRCA Catalyst Working Group Grants provide up to $1,000 in annual support ($500 per semester) for UMBC Arts faculty (including lecturers and non-tenure track Professors) to spend a semester or year exploring potential collaborative endeavors with one or more colleagues from another Arts discipline or a discipline outside of the Arts, with a goal of developing interdisciplinary projects for which they can seek additional funding. The group leader (and grant applicant) must be a faculty member from a UMBC Arts Department (Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts). Groups may include people from outside UMBC and advanced graduate students as long as they are in the minority.

CIRCA provides support for the formation of these groups in an effort to promote intellectual exchange and interdisciplinary collaborations within and outside of the Arts. CIRCA Catalyst Working Groups should meet regularly and can use their funds to travel to sites, archives, explore technologies, produce creative experiments, or other similar activities.

Deadlines are November 1st for groups beginning in the following spring semester and April 1st for groups beginning in the following fall semester. To apply, complete the CIRCA Catalyst Working Group Grants Application Form and email it to CIRCA Director Lynn Cazabon (circa@umbc.edu) by the deadline.
