Shaness D. Kemp (Associate Professor, Dance) recently received tenure and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Dance. Professor Kemp is the first and only Bahamian dancer and dance educator to receive tenure within the field of dance.

Alexi Scheiber (IMDA ‘25) MFA Thesis work The Dreaming World has been selected for inclusion in the Whittier Film Festival in Whittier, CA, the Jagran Film Festival in Kanpur, India, and will be screened at the SNF Parkway Theatre in Baltimore on October 4. Her work will also be featured in the exhibition New Here Now: Works by Recent MFA Graduates from the DMV at King Street Gallery at Montgomery College in Silver Spring, MD, September 29 – October 31.
Eric Abele’s (Teaching Professor, Theatre) painting Betrayal will be featured in the Pray the Gay Away exhibition at Not ShockBoxx Gallery in Hermosa Beach, CA.
Eric Millikin’s (Assistant Professor, Visual Arts) animated film The Dance of the Nain Rouge was awarded Best AI Film, Best Animated Film, and The Spirit Award by the 2025 Geek Fest Universe. His film was also recently accepted into the Red Rocks AI Film Festival taking place on October 9 in St. George, UT.
Nia Hampton’s (IMDA ‘26) film My Mother the Clown will have its premiere at the Baltimore International Black Film Festival on October 5. The film’s cast includes Nia Hampton, Bao Nguyen (IMDA ‘26) and was co-produced by Brittney Barbour (IMDA ‘27).
Kristin Putchinski (IMDA ‘24) will be performing Piano on Saturday, October 4 at 8 PM at Gallery CA, Baltimore. Anna Kroll (IMDA ‘23) will also be featured in the performance.
