Applications accepted between August 15 and April 30 of the current academic year
The Center for Innovation, Research and Creativity in the Arts (CIRCA) invites applications from UMBC graduate students to support and promote significant research and innovation in the Arts. The grants are open to all UMBC doctoral and master’s level students working on arts-related research projects that will culminate in a dissertation, master’s thesis, and/or master’s thesis exhibition. The CIRCA Graduate Student Research Grant will provide up to $1000 (maximum per academic year) to support professional development activities, such as attendance at workshops or courses to develop new skills related to the applicant’s artistic practice, research travel, materials, or other directly-related research expenses.
Policies and restrictions:
- Awards will be made on a rolling basis and will be offered until the center’s available funding for this program has been exhausted.
- Awardees are required to submit a summary of the work accomplished by the end of the subsequent semester, including a statement on the progress made toward the completion of their dissertation or thesis project. Please email your report to circa@umbc.edu.
- Awardees will be invited to present their funded project in a CIRCA program.
Once a completed application is received, materials will be reviewed as soon as possible in consultation with CIRCA Advisory Board members, and the Director will respond with a determination on the request. All efforts will be made to provide a decision to the applicant within three weeks.
